Witton Church Walk C of E Aided Primary School
Witton Church Walk C of E Aided Primary School is situated next to the church, and church and school enjoy close relationship together.
The church supports the school in many ways. The clergy regularly lead Collective Worship with the school. Once a fortnight, on Wednesday mornings, all the children and the staff come into church for Collective Worship. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join us for this service, and then to stay on afterwards for tea and coffee. Look out for the dates for this on the noticeboard in school or on the church newsletter. The school also comes into church for the annual cycle of seasonal servcies which are so much a part of the Church year - Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Easter, Acension Day and Harvest, as well as the Year 6 Leavers Service in July. We are building a regular pattern of the Nursary classes coming into church for "Praise and Play" and the church is used a s a resource to support the teaching of R.E. All Year 6 children are offered the opportunity to be confirmed before they leave the school, which takes place in a special servcie led by the Bishop.
In addition to the involvement of the clergy, members of the church serve on the governing body, whilst others help with practical tasks in the school, such as our Secret Gardener!
