Meeting of the PCC Tuesday 26th May 2009 in Church

Present:

Rev M Cowan (Chairman), Miss S Birtwisle, Mr D Drinkwater, Mrs J Drinkwater, Mrs R J Montgomery, Mr G M Shaw, Mr A Mallin-Jones, Rev B Jobber, Mrs A Mallin-Jones, Mr S Gowler, Mr K Johnson, Mr K Moth, Mr F Strange and Mrs S Williams

1. Opening prayers

The meeting opened with the lectionary reading set for today (St John's Gospel) & prayers lead by the Chairman. Welcome to new members. PCC was explained briefly to them.

2. Apologies for absence

Were received from Miss H Skinner, Mr A Smith, Mrs S Ikin.

3. Minutes of the meeting 5th April & 26th April 2009

The Minutes of the meetings held on these dates had previously been circulated. The Chairman signed after his name & Mr M Scrowther's name had been spelt correctly (26th April)

4. Matters arising from the minutes

Charitable Giving: The report from Mrs S Ikin (enclosed). A proposal by Mrs S Williams and seconded by Miss S Birtwisle that we support the Charities named, all were in favour.

5. Reports

(a) Deanery Synod. - Reports received

(b) Treasurers - Report Received Bank mandate needs amending. Mr K Moth proposed, Mr A Mallin-Jones seconded that the list of now authorised signatories is: - Miss S Birtwisle, Mr F Strange and Mr A Smith, any 2 out of 3 to sign. This supersedes all other authority, all were in favour

(c) Church Walk School - Report Received

(d) Electoral roll - at present 159. 93 residents, 66 non residents

St Johns & Curates House nothing to report

7. Youth work

Report Received. Propose Churches Together may take this up.

8. Thanksgiving Sunday

61 pledges:- 50 the same, 2 less, 9 more. 10 new gift aid declarations received. The council recorded their thanks to Sue & Andrew for the preparation of this day.

11. Any other business

GAP (Growth Action Plan) Information is now available for every one to find out about it.

Rev B Jobbers financial situation regarding church work was raised. He receives fees only for funerals & weddings. It was thought that there had been a drop in these services. In the same 6 month period this year compared to 2008 we had in fact had more services. After some discussion it was proposed by Mrs A Mallin-Jones seconded by Mr K Moth that we leave it for the time being, all were in favour including Rev Jobber.

Dates of the next 4 meetings:- Monday 20th July, Monday 21st September, Monday 16th November 2009 and Monday 25th January 2010.
