Sunday Club

Sunday Club is for children from 3 until 11-ish, so if you fit this age group and would like to join us for activities based round bible stories please come on Sundays. The club meets every Sunday morning during the main service - you can leave Mum and Dad to worship whilst you go off and have fun! On Sundays during term time we have fun in the Upper Vestry, some Sundays (see below) we remain in Church for the Family service.

Hope to see you soon!

Sunday Club Objectives

  1. To provide a friendly, caring place for young children to learn about the Word of God so we can live our lives following the example of Jesus.
  2. A safe place for us where we can experience Christ's love for us and share Christian values with friends who have the same ideals. [All leaders are CRB checked]
  3. A fun place where we make models, collages and pictures, or plant seeds while discussing what God's word means to us.

This is a great way to develop and share our growing faith and relationship with God as we share equipment and help our friends. We also learn to respect ourselves and others.

Sunday Club Leaders

  1. Ann Mallin-Jones
  2. Jocelyn Scrowther
  3. Joyce Cowan
  4. Barbara Moth
  5. Rachel Clarke
  6. Sylvia Birtwisle

Help our Club grow

Members of Sunday Club; do you have a friend you would like to bring? Sunday club could be even more fun if you all came with a friend.

Sunday Club - December 2009 news

Dec 13th - Santa visits the Sunday Club On 13th December, the Sunday Club had a Christmas party in church after most of the adults had gone home. It was filled with fun and games, with lots to eat. Santa made a surprise visit with presents for everyone except the Vicar, because he'd been so busy preparing for Christmas in Church that he forgot to send his list to Santa. All the children offered to help him write his list after santa left.

Dec 20th - The children present their Christmas prayers On 20th December, the Sunday Club preapared a nativity scene for the church. Dec 20th - The children prepare a nativity scene

Oxford Street Christmas lights Are you beginning to look forward to Christmas? I am. I love the pretty lights in the streets and the colourful displays in shop windows. I still remember the exciting visit I made every Christmas when I was growing up in London. It was a special treat to go out after tea by underground train to Oxford Street. www.thisisull.com
Traditional roasted chestnuts stall My sister and I marvelled at the lights and admired the toys on display in the huge shop windows. It was great just to look as we knew Santa would bring us more modest presents which really were just as enjoyable and fitted into our house much better. Well done Santa, he knew what was best for us. The visit always ended with a treat of roast chestnuts bought from one of the street stalls, the only time in the year we were allowed such a treat.

Perhaps you can make an evening visit to the lights in one of the bigger towns near to Northwich. I also love Christmas in church. By singing the same famous carols year by year as a child, the strange words became familiar and part of Christmas. Why not take the carol sheets home if you can and read the words over and over to yourselves until you learn them like poems? You could even lie in bed whispering the words as you try to go to sleep on Christmas Eve. Church services are much more fun if you can join in the singing along with the adults.

Remember Jesus answers our prayers in the way that He knows is best for us so maybe that expensive present is not part of God's plan for us this Christmas.

What has Sunday Club been up to this Autumn 2009?

Jocelyn kindly took the older members to the Pilgrimage at Chester Cathedral. As well as the craft items they made they came back with a special 2009 candle which we light each Sunday to remind us that we are beacons of Christian light shining in our little area of Northwich. Thank you Jocelyn!

William tells us where the Harvest gifts go William, with help from Kevin, Barbara and his Mum gave a super Powerpoint talk at harvest. He explained about the Orphanage and the children who live there. I think this was a first for Sunday Club to lead the sermon at the family service and use Powerpoint at a service. Thank you to William and his support team.

If you can help us do something similar another time please let the leaders know we are always eager to have fresh ideas that interest you.
