St Helens has been at the centre of our community for more than 600 years. It is the oldest and most beautiful building in the town and one of the most important in England. In addition to regular services and events, a children’s Sunday Club and a midweek Praise and Play group for pre-school children and their Carers, people come for weddings, baptisms, funerals, school services, civic and remembrance events. We want St Helens to remain at the heart of our mission in the 21st century to support Christian faith and values and serve the people of Northwich. However, we need to bring St Helens up to the standards and expectations of a modern community.

We are therefore developing a Vision for the 21st Century . Our objectives are:

Increased use - enable more people to enjoy St Helens through a wider range of activities for worship, learning, sharing and participation.

Better facilities - ensure that St Helens meets the needs of all users and encourage greater use by the whole community by providing better access, space usage, catering and toilet facilities.

Good repair - plan in advance a programme of essential repairs that have been identified by the church architect.

Attractive churchyard - revive the churchyard as a beautiful communal space for enjoyment and contemplation.

Whether you come to church regularly, sometimes, hardly ever or not at all  St Helens is there for you – it is your church. As we develop our vision we want to make sure it is your vision too.

We would like to hear your single most important idea for St Helens.

Would you like to see a beautiful churchyard with less tumbledown gravestones? Would you like the church to be open every day? Would you like to be able to call in for a coffee or even the occasional lunch? Would you like there to be more events and a lively social mix. Would you like the opportunity for quiet contemplation? Have you an idea for something new?

Please write down your idea on the attached slip, return it in the free envelope

and help to shape our Vision for St Helen’s.
